I’m currently a teaching assistant for Prof. Gill’s Philosophy 150C: Philosophical Perspectives on Society. In this course, we use the tools of philosophy (and the views of historical and contemporary philosophers) to address controversial questions about morality and society. Topics include: How should the wealth of a society be distributed? Should drugs be legalized? Is active euthanasia immoral?
In the past, I’ve served as primary instructor for two courses of my own design (Introduction to Philosophy; Philosophy of Psychiatry) and as teaching assistant for eight courses (ranging from medieval philosophy to the philosophy of economics). Here are some things students had to say about my intro class:
- “Ian listened to students viewpoints and appropriately applied their concept of their arguments to the class, as well as effectively clearing any misconceptions.”
- “Honest to goodness, this class was my favorite. Ian is an enthralling teacher who kept class attention – it seemed – and rarely showed any real bias.”
- “Ian is awesome! I love his clear logical presentations!”
